Ryumonnotaki 15m(50feet)

Ryumonnotaki is the first fall to see after descending the steep path down to the creek. A stone bridge of columnar joint crossing over the waterfall is an ancient art work created by sacred Mt. Ontake.Ryumonnotaki is the treasure of Osaka.

Hakamadaki 20m(66feet)

After leaving Ryumonnotaki, another Hakamadaki which is also made of columnar joint is waiting for you with the arms open. Wading the creek and scrambling up 50m(65feet) and down again,you will find a good place for lunch.

Mumeinotaki

Other falls ( 6 more )appearing consecutively on your way back are unnamed but have beautiful pools with blue clear water.

Scramble Around Fall

You will descend a steep slope (200m elevation down) down to the creek, sometimes with the help of hand rope, and need to be very careful.
After reaching Ryumonnotaki, you will encounter a succession of various falls further on until the end of the tour, which will surely make you deeply impressed.
You will find Iwanas jumping tocatch insects. Enjoy wading in summer.

Walking boots (wading shoes are preferable ), extra clothing, rain gear and packed lunch.
Wading shoes are available for rent.

  • Rope will be a good help for descending to the creek.
For your safety and to protect national forests, an entrance permit is required. Visits to the falls are only available by guided tours.
All the tours need to be booked at least ten days in advance for permit procedures.
